BUNTING

Bunting, as a decorative item, originated with the Royal Navy way back in the 17th century. Initially, the term referred to the lightweight wool fabric, called buntin, used to make flags, including signal flags. These flags were used for communication between ships. Over time, the practice of using strings of these flags for celebrations and other public events emerged.
